28 Apr Encounter with Sarah Albisser
When having the time, I bring Anne-Marie to Courtenay Place, going to Kafe Eis, and then often visiting some Art Galerie nearby. Ora is our favorite destination that exhibits mostly New Zealand artists. I wish one day, they will exhibit Anne-Marie drawings as well.
Yesterday’s visit, we have had an encounter with a new artist, Sarah Albisser.
Sarah Albisser is originally from Swisserland but runs a small art studio in New Zealand. Her drawings are mostly black and white. Her drawings at the first sight look very similar to many of mine. Does she use any programming language to draw? Apparently not, she simply uses pencil and paper. But I like the fact that she limits her medium to be only lines and the color to be only black and white. Her portraits are not much than a bunch of thin lines, but these lines have souls, sending a message which is more than a photograph, I believe.
Some of her works remind me of some generative artworks I did before, such as the one below:
I am very keen on the opportunity to work with someone like Sarah, to explore the possible collaboration between the traditional drawing method and the generative one. A collaboration between machine, robot, and the thinking hand of a real human.
